Voter Registration and Voting

Ensuring the Voting Rights of Homeless Persons

This report is designed to provide accurate and authoritative information concerning the legal rights of homeless people with respect to voter registration. The National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty (NLCHP) has tracked the development of the laws that affect the voting rights of homeless people. In this second report on the topic, NLCHP lays out the voting rights of people experiencing homelessness, barriers faced by such persons when registering and voting, and strategies to overcome those barriers. If you would like information about your state's voting laws, please contact Tulin Ozdeger at tozdeger@nlchp.org.
