Housing and School Stability for Domestic Violence Survivors and Their Children
A Resource Manual
Domestic violence survivors face special barriers to obtaining adequate housing, and their children often have additional problems maintaining educational stability.
This manual is designed to help advocates, social workers, attorneys, and others who work with domestic violence survivors understand the laws protecting survivors. Specifically, it focuses on the Violence Against Women Act of 2005 and the education provisions of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.
Originally compiled for a series of trainings in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC, this manual is appropriate for all areas of the country. Organizations are free to adapt it for their own use.
