A Defintion

Experience has shown that, despite its specificity, the McKinney-Vento Act's definition of homelessness leaves us with some gray areas.  This flow chart is designed to assist parents, youth, advocates and educators to determine whether a particular child or youth is eligible for McKinney-Vento Act services.  It guides the user through the Acts definition of "homeless child and youth", including definitions and tips for applying the definition to specific living situations.
