Using the CACFP Program for Children in Domestic Violence Shelters

Accessing Nutritious Meals

The Child Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federal nutrition entitlement program that helps provide meals to children.  The program can be used to reimburse meals for children living in homeless or domestic violence shelters.  Each state has a State Child and Adult Care Food Program agency, usually located in the State Department of Education, which administers the program.

This fact sheet will explain who is eligible for funds through the CACFP and how to obtain them.
